'Hello, My name is Beth Foreman and I will be your child's 8 Red Science Teacher. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Utah University in Botany and a Master of Science in Teacher Leadership. I spent my early years as a research scientist employed by the Department of the Interior (BLM) , Utah Division of Wildlife and the Utah Geological and Mineral Survey. I have been in the classroom for 15 years and love my job!
Students are now mid way through their unit on Chemistry. Students have mastered the physical and chemical properties of matter. They are exploring the elements and families of the periodic table. Soon element reports and models will be buzzing around the house. Chemical bonding and Organic Chemistry will round out the Chemistry curriculum before the winter break.
Students will be spending the second half of the school year studying Physics. Topics covered will include: Wave energy that focus on sound, light and the Electromagnetic Spectrum of Waves. Other topics will include speed, motion, velocity, acceleration, inertia and Newton's Laws. We will be doing multiple labs that involve the above topics. We will also integrate math formulas and algebraic stragegies as we try to quantify and measure the above topics.
A semester final will be taken in December.
